Wildlife sightings for 7th September 2024

74 Gadwall - main lake, scrape, sheltered lagoon

65 Pochard - main lake, reservoir lagoon

2 Water Rail - reedbed

1 Buzzard - over NW

2 Yellow Wagtail - main lake, marsh

1 Wheatear - marsh

2 Willow Warbler - wildside

16 Chiffchaff - south and west routes

Cetti's Warblers, Reed Buntings and Reed Warblers can be found in the reedbed and any other reed fringes. Look for Sedge Warblers at the scrubby edges of the marsh, reservoir lagoon and main lake. Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs are active in the scrublands of wildside, south route and sheltered lagoon. Watch the electric fences around the marsh for perching Whinchat or Stonechat.

Dragonflies: (early September survey) Southern Hawker, Migrant Hawker, Ruddy Darter, Common Darter, Small red-eyed Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Willow Emerald Damselfly.

Butterflies: (early September surveys) Large White, Small White, Green-veined White, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Large Skipper, Small Copper, Brown Hairstreak, Gatekeeper, Comma.
