'Camo Duck' arrives at Martin Mere
The arrival of a giant duck is causing a lot of excitement at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre in Lancashire.
‘Camo Duck’ situated outside the adventure play area is the unique design of natural history presenter and writer Mike Dilger.
Last month talented art and design students at Preston College were busy bringing the design brief provided by Mike Dilger to life...
“I thought of giving the WWT Martin Mere duck the name of ‘Camo Duck.’ The design would be disruptive green camouflage - much as you see on the army trousers or ‘Real Tree’ coats of some of your keener visitors! Additionally adorning the duck would (of course) be a pair of binoculars around its neck.”
The four-foot-six duck at Martin Mere will be accompanied by 23 fellow ducks across Lancashire this summer to form the Aquaducked charity duck trail.
As well as coming to visit the giant ‘Camo Duck’ at Martin Mere you can take to the water on a canoe safari or guided boat tour, meet our friendly family of otters, get close to flamingos, splash and dash in the adventure play area and explore the interactive wetland wildlife exhibit ‘WoW’, is it Weird or Wonderful? You’ll be amazed at how close you can get to fantastic wetland wildlife.
