Popular bird watching festival returns in November, with some very special guests
Whether you’re a photographer, or just love the outdoors, there’ll be something for everyone, as the eagerly awaited North West Bird Watching Festival returns to WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.
WWT Martin Mere will be welcoming back some regular celebrity visitors as speakers, including the Urban Birder (David Lindo), and wildlife TV presenters Mike Dilger and Mark Avery. The event includes a range of talks, demonstrations, shopping opportunities, and as always, plenty of time for networking or getting advice on taking the perfect photograph.
Highlights include:
Access to the reserve from 8am, offering early morning photography opportunities of the pink-footed geese and Whooper swans as they awake and leave their roost
- At 3pm you can watch the award winning spectacle of up to 1000 Whooper swans feeding right in front of you on the mere, as well as thousands of shelduck, wigeon and teal
- Free photography workshops with photographer Barrie Kelly from North West Photography Courses
- Free ringing demonstration workshops will allow you to get up close to some wonderful species which last year included great-spotted woodpecker
- London Camera Exchange will be offering guidance on photography, cameras and digi-scoping as well as selling products
