Junior Photography Competition
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre has launched a Junior Photography Competition. The competition is part of Dusty’s Wildlife Rangers - a summer of fun ranger activities and is aiming to showcase the best wildlife on display at the centre throughout the summer months.
The competition is open for children under the age of 16. As well as being entered to win great prizes, all pictures entered will be on display for everyone to see in our exhibition hall from 23 September to the end of October Half Term.
To enter the competition, visit the centre over the summer and collect your FREE log book. The log book contains all the details how to enter via Flickr group: “Martin Mere Wildlife Rangers Photography Competition”. All photographic entries must have been taken at WWT Martin Mere from 21 July 2017 – 3 September 2017.
Centre Manager, Nick Brooks, said: “This competition is a great way of getting kids to come along to the centre, spend time watching the wildlife and become enthusiastic about wildlife photography. The last competition we did was back in 2015 and this picture is of the winning entry in the junior category. A great photograph and I am really looking forward to seeing the entries that come in and helping to judge them in September.”
Closing date for the competition is the 3 September 2017 and the winners will be informed by 15 September.
In addition there are a number of activities to take part in over the summer – play against us in a game of GIANT Wetland Top Trumps; listen to the new white stork talk and feed at 2pm; join a tribe, make a headdress and tracks animals; go pond exploring, canoeing and much more.
Nick continues: “you collect stickers by doing each of the activities and if you collect more than 6 you can receive your Super Wildlife Ranger badge at our daily award ceremony at 3.30pm."
Martin Mere is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 6pm during summer months (and until 4.30pm during the winter) and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
