Kids go free at WWT Martin Mere
From Tuesday 26 August to Friday 5 September, excluding weekend, two kids go free to WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre before 11am with a paying adult.
To bring kids in for free, simply cut out an advert you will see in your local paper or visit
www.wwt.org.uk/martin-mere/august-offer/ to obtain your voucher and enjoy a great day out at the end of the summer holidays.
Summer is a great time to visit and your family can get up close to dramatic and rare birds, mammals and amphibians, in a safe and easy environment. At WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre there’s a range of nature explorer activities to enjoy this summer holiday (up to 6 September).
Here are a few of our must-do summer activities to ensure your children return to school with unforgettable stories. How many can you tick off the list? :
- Pick up a bag of grain and feed the Hawaiian Nene, the rarest goose in the world that WWT helped to reintroduce back into the wild
- Take a canoe or boat safari and try and spot watervoles, the declining UK species that look like a giant mouse
- Explore a hidden gem of wetland habitat with the opening of the NEW Wild Walk – meander through the muddy meadow, wander in the wet woods and get lost in a reedy ramble spotting wildlife and giant sculptures
- Listen for the calls of some of the oddest birds in our ‘WOW’ exhibit – is it Weird or Wonderful?
- Go pond dipping and see what lurks beneath the water with sessions at 11am and 2pm
- Delve into the giant bug hunt and see what creatures you can uncover.
- Visit the craft room to make a shield and paint a duck from 1pm.
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is a haven for a host of creatures such as otters, beavers, kingfishers, geese and swans. Watch birds from the shelter of our comfortable hides, enjoy an expert walk or talk, or simply watch the world go by in our cafe overlooking our waterfowl collection – there’s plenty to do at a Wetland Centre all year round.
Martin Mere is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 6pm during summer months (and until 4.30pm during the winter) and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
