Last chance to see.....
Thousands and thousands of visitors have enjoyed looking at a very different type of duck, designed by the world-famous Aardman studios, at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre. Dusty Duck arrived in mid-October at WWT Martin Mere and he has become a very popular attraction – but there is only a few weeks left to come and see him before he flies off to WWT Arundel on 9 January.
And it’s not just one Dusty that has been appearing at Martin Mere - there are 14 GIANT 6 ft Dusty Ducks for the public to discover on a special trail, each designed by a celebrity, including a range of CBBC and CBeebies stars based at Salford’s media city. These are:
- Justin Fletcher - Pirate Justy Dusty
- Steve Backshall - Explorer Dusty
- Smarked (CBBC’s Sam and Mark) - Tiger Dusty
- Matthew Baynton (Horrible Histories)- Sir Quackalot Dusty
- Naz Mogra (Newsround) - Supergirl Dusty
- Barney Harwood (Blue Peter) - Monster Onesie Dusty
Other celebrity designers include:
- Joanna Lumley - Absolutely Fabulous Patsy Dusty
- Chris Packham - Ziggy StarDusty
- Kate Humble - Camo Dusty
- Michaela Strachan - Springtime Dusty
Families in Merseyside and Lancashire can pick up their Dusty Duck trail map from the admission desk and tick off the fantastic Dustys dotted around Martin Mere’s stunning grounds amongst the real-life ducks.

“The response we have had to Dusty Duck has been amazing. The giant Dusty Ducks look fantastic in amongst our real life wildlife. The trail is a great way to get children out and about while having fun.”

WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 4pm during winter months and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
