Martin Mere Announce AAA British Wildlife Exhibit.
Join the Association of Animal Artists as they display a selection of their work at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre this February and March (2 February – 29 March).
The association will be showcasing a wide selection of work featuring British Wildlife, from both amateur and professional artists alike.
As part of this year’s exhibit, two award-winning artists will be hosting informal demonstrations of their work from 10 am – 3 pm in the exhibition hall on Saturday 14th February. Julie Cross is a two-time winner of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year award in the World Mammals Category and last year she was awarded the Wildlife Art Society’s Christopher Parsons Award for Artistic Excellence, whilst Su Melville won a prize in the Association of Animal Artists’ annual competition in 2014. This is a fabulous opportunity to see artists at work and ask questions.
The association was founded in 2009 and was set up to support animal artists in order to promote and exhibit their artwork. The AAA will be showcasing a selection of their members’ work daily in the exhibition hall near the main admissions desk on your way into the centre.
Last year’s exhibition was a huge success, with the AAA generating over £2500 over its two-month display. The exhibition is a great addition to your day at Martin Mere, allowing you to come in from the cold after the swan feeds and it allows you to experience, and buy, work by these talented artists.
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 4.30pm during winter months and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations. Visit the web site http://www.wwt.org.uk/martinmere/ to find out what’s on all year round at Martin Mere and the other eight WWT Wetland Centres.
