Meet Fred the Frog

MM July 1st 2016-102NEW Fred the Frog joins the GIANT LEGO(R) brick animals trail returning to WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre this summer.

A surprise new model, Fred the Frog, was unveiled today at Martin Mere by children from Gwladys Street School from Liverpool. Fred took an amazing 244 hours to build with an incredible 75,000 LEGO bricks.

GIANT LEGO brick sculptures will be at the attraction in Lancashire for 6 weeks this summer from 16 July to 4 September, alongside some of their living counterparts. Visitors will be able to enjoy the trail of nine individually-designed 4ft MM July 1st 2016 school-046(1.5m) LEGO brick characters, inspired by real species at WWT Martin Mere.  Included are a large North American River Otter, a Hawaiian Goose (Ne Ne), the world’s rarest goose, a giant Kingfisher and a flamingo, plus one surprise new model, a giant frog called

The LEGO brick animal trail is one of eight activities Martin Mere is hosting this summer as part of our Nature Explorer attraction. Children can pick up an official Nature Explorer passport from 21 July and collect stickers by doing fun activities such as canoe safari, pond dipping, a big bug hunt, and lots, lots more. Budding explorers can also get a gold award in our daily award ceremony at 3.30pm by getting a minimum of 6 stickers.

WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 6pm during summer months and parking is free of charge.
