Unfortunately, we have had a recent case of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in our collection birds. To prevent further spread of the disease, we are putting in place some additional protection measures, which includes testing the birds in our duckery. To allow our teams the time and space to do this, we’ve temporarily closed this part of the wetland reserve and will reopen on Monday 10 November.

CDawberPP3 A new exhibition, by Carol Dawber, called Planted and Picked has begun at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

Southport artist, Carol, will display over 40 pieces of work which explores how best to use 'colours of the garden' to create art through textiles. In the past Carole has exhibited nationally and internationally and the exhibition is running until 12 March will a percentage of any sales going to WWT Martin Mere.

Carol said: "I am thrilled that Martin Mere have invited me to show my work and I am very excited to be able to see my individual pieces as a whole collection for the first time."
