Wildlife in Acrylics
The latest exhibition has been unveiled at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre: Wildlife in Acrylics by David Finney.
This exhibition by artist David Finney will be on display at the centre from 31 October to 4 December, as well as an exhibit at the North West Bird Watching Festival at Martin Mere on Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 November.
David says: “I take my inspiration from the countryside around me and hope my appreciation of it shows through in my work. I build up the image in layers on a very thick Bockingford watercolour paper, and more recently I have also been painting more freely on canvas, with a controlled splattering of gesso, over painted with knife, brush and extreme enthusiasm!”
The exhibition is located in the main foyer and a percentage of all sales comes straight to Martin Mere.
David continues: “I regularly take part in a number of Art & Craft Fairs which, this summer, included the 'Patchings' Art Festival, 'Art in the Pen' and the annual Bird Fair at Rutland. I have been Chairman of Chester's Grosvenor Art Society since April 2015 and am also a member of both the Association of Animal Artists and The Wildlife Art Society, as well as my local South East Cheshire Ornithological Society, who's logo I was asked to redesign to help celebrate their 50th anniversary celebrations in 2014. I am really looking forward to adding Martin Mere to my portfolio.”
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 4.30pm during winter months and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
