WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre welcomes distinguished guests
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre welcomed some very distinguished yesterday as the Mayor & Consort of West Lancashire hosted an “At Home” for the Chairman & Lady of Lancashire County Council, the Lord Mayor of Chester and local Mayors & Mayoress from Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire.
Almost 30 guests were in attendance to visit attractions and places of interest in West Lancashire to learn about the district and the day ended at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre for a tour of the facilities and afternoon tea and cake at Mere Side Café.
Centre Manager, Nick Brooks, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many guests to Martin Mere. We do pride ourselves as being an attraction that supports our local community and I hope that they found the tour both interesting and informative. We look forward to inviting them back again in the future.”
Martin Mere is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9.30am to 6pm during summer months (and until 4.30pm during the winter) and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
