An excellent 22,000 Pink-footed Geese roosted on the reserve last night. At least one bird didn't make it through the night as it's corpse, at the back of the Mere, provided a meal for Great Black-backed Gull, Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard and assorted Carrion Crows.

Signs of autumn passage with Skylarks, Meadow Pipits and wagtails flying south. At least one Grey Wagtail was around the Mere.

Waders included 300+ Lapwing, Little Stint, 20+ Ruff, 4+ Common Snipe and Golden Plover.

Raptor counts included 3 Marsh Harrier, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

Nineteen Greenfinch were present together at the Janet Kear Hide. Kingfisher from the Ron Barker Hide. Probable Wheatear distantly on Wood End Marsh
