73 Avocet

A brief round up of the weekends sightings. As expected the Avocet numbers continue to increase with 73 birds this morning. They were joined by a couple of Curlew along the back of the Mere. Oystercatcher numbers increased 112, also 400+ Lapwing, 60+ Ruff, 10+ Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ringed Plover, Redshank and Common Snipe.

The usual raptors with 8 Common Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, 2 Peregrine, 3 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk. Barn Owl also seen.

Wildfowl numbers are dropping back but at least 12 species present.

Grey Wagtail inside the wildfowl gardens. Skylarks are in song over Plover Field and beyond when it's not to wet and windy. Stonechats still out on the fence posts. Around the feeding stations the Reed Bunting are developing their breeding plumage.
