A fine selection of species recorded on site today, the highlights being a Great White Egret which was seen by several observers and photographed from the Kingfisher hide before it flew past the Mere heading towards the new land area.

The Grey Phalarope is still present from Ron Barker Hide and was enjoyed by many.

The good run of Geese continued today with 4 ad White Fronted Geese seen along with 2 presumed Tundra Bean Geese (if confirmed would be the 155th species this year) among the flocks of up to 4000 Pink Footed Geese. Up to 80 Ruff were counted along with single Golden Plover and Curlew.

A single ringtail Hen Harrier and up to 3 Marsh Harrier were to be seen along with the usual sightings of Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

A single female Goldeneye on the Mere was picked out among the large numbers wildfowl.

Among other birds of interest has been the Willow/Marsh Tit that has been reported for a while now, with some people now thinking the bird is a Marsh Tit, which would be a 1st record for the reserve. So if anyone has good photos of any Marsh/Willow Tit taken on site could people please check and send any images in to resolve the issue?
