Bewick's Swan still

Another good birding day with excellent visibility and light winds.

Bewick's Swan still present and showing very well right at the front of Swan Link hide during the 3pm feed. The bird is spending most of the time on the left hand side of the Mere.

At least 4000 Pink-footed Geese in fields on and near the reserve.

The Mere was packed with wildfowl with many of the males present displaying to females.

Waders included at least 10 Common Snipe flushed out on reserve fields, 1500+ Lapwing, 80+ Ruff and 2 Oystercatcher.

Marsh Harrier was the pick of the raptors with 4 Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk also seen.

A mixed flock of 100+ Rooks and a few Jackdaw has been seen around the edge of the reserve.

Grey and Pied Wagtails around the reserve. At least 20 Tree Sparrow many around the feeders next to the in focus shop. Great-spotted Woodpecker along the Nature Trail.
