Firstly, late news from yesterday, when a Brimstone butterfly was seen taking advantage of  the unusually fine weather - probably a mistake, as the more typical wind and rain had returned by this morning. Highlight of the day was probably a male Siskin on the feeding station in front of the Janet Kear hide, where the regular Willow Tit was also present. Raptors today included 8 Common Buzzards in the air at the same time, 3 Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. Few counts received today, but Avocet numbers were up to 6, with 6 Curlew, 16 Black-tailed Godwit, 65 Oystercatcher and at least 80 Ruff also present.

A Barn Owl was seen hunting from the United Utilities hide from around 4.30pm.
