A compilation of sightings for today and from over the weekend.

Some interesting arrivals indicating post breeding dispersal with small flocks of Lapwing and Starling around the Mere. A couple Curlew and a few Teal also fit into this category. Many of the local wildfowl are now starting to go into eclipsed plumage, were the males begin to look like females.

Waders also included Avocet and Redshank with young, Oystercatcher, Common Snipe, Black-tailed Godwit, Little Ringed Plover and breeding plumage Ruff.

The Black-headed Gull colony is active with many young although the occasional marauding Lesser Black-backed Gull is getting through their defenses.

Still two imm Little Gull and 2 Common Tern regularly out on Woodend Marsh.

Two Tawny Owl (ad + juv) showed well  in trees between the Janet Kear Hide and the United Utilities Hide.
