Great conditions for viewing today, if a tad cold at times in the wind. Waders still to the fore with over 2000 Lapwing, 100 Ruff, 14 Oystercatcher, 10 Common Snipe, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plover, Curlew and Bar-tailed Godwit again. Although the current North-Westerlies are not ideal, surely we can expect an Avocet or two to arrive in the next seven days?

A recent count of Pink-footed Geese had ~6,000 leaving the roost, but only 300 birds on the reserve for most of the day and no reports of any of the rarer geese. A good count of Gadwall (34) in front of the Harrier Hide. Again 1300+ Whooper Swan.

Raptors in action included; 4 Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 5 Common Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk and 2 Kestrel. One Kestrel spent a brief spell attempting to catch a Skylark.
