The unpleasant weather over the last couple of days seems to have put many people off, but the birds are still out there for anyone willing to brave the squalls ! At one stage today 3 Marsh Harriers, 2 Peregrines, and 2 Buzzards were in the air together. A single Bewick's Swan was on the Mere this afternoon, and 3 Black-tailed Godwits, an Oystercatcher, and at least 60 Ruff were also present. The few reports received from other parts of the reserve included a Barn Owl near the Kingfisher hide, the usual Willow Tit from the Janet Kear hide, and a Merlin from the Ron Barker hide.
