A male Red-breasted Merganser seen in flight over the reserve may well prove to be the first recorded for Martin Mere. Unfortunately the bird did not land. Other sightings of interest include a female/immature (ringtail) Hen Harrier, a Marsh Harrier, Merlin and 2 Peregrines. A few counts received today including 81 Ruff, 40 Black-tailed Godwit, 69 Pochard, 110 Tufted Duck, 59 Shoveller, 2 (male) Goldeneye, and 841 Shelduck.
