Bird News

A Little Egret was the star bird for many today, showing on and off from both the Harrier and United Utilitiy hides. Wader numbers fairly static at the moment, with 13 Ruff, at least 50 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Common Sandpipers and a Dunlin, along with the usual Avocets, Redshanks, Oystercatchers etc.

Great Crested and Little Grebes both on show in front of the Harrier hide.
The sunny weather means Common Buzzards are almost always in evidence, soaring high on thermals over the fields at the back of the reserve, and a single Marsh Harrier is still being seen intermittantly throughout the day
