Bird News

A wet start with a south-easterly wind. Never a bad wind as most of the hide windows face a westerly position. A month earlier this airflow may have brought interesting migrants onto the reserve but no reports of anything new today.

Weather wise the rest of the week looks good, with light southerlies.

Merlin again, a good autumn for this species with plenty of potential food on the reserve. Three Peregrine, 3 Common Buzzard and Kestrel.

Waders included 1000+ Lapwing, ~ 4o Ruff, 28 Common Snipe in one flock and Redshank calling late on.

Redwing along the Nature Trail. At least 6000 Pink-footed Geese coming in after 4.30pm.
