Bird news

The Cuckoo continues to show well at times from Ron Barker Hide, also a Barn Owl was seen this afternoon from here and a rarely seen bird in the form of a Water Rail that was out feeding along the edge of the reedbed.

Still a few Black-tailed Godwit on the reserve with 7 from Ron Barker Hide.

Lots of chicks appearing around the reserve, with new broods of Shelduck on the Mere. The Common Terns still have managed to hang on to their 3 chicks so far, and have been seen mobbing Peregrine and Crows in recent days, protecting their young.
