Bittern

Bird of the day has to go to the Bittern flushed while strimming back some of the reedbed in front of Harrier Hide late morning, it flew and dropped back into the quite extensive reedbed here, hopefully with some of the reeds being strimmed there may be some sightings again in the coming days.

The male Hen Harrier performed well early morning along with the imm male Marsh Harrier, which were both interacting and sparring at one point. The usual Peregrines were active again hunting Teal and Lapwing, making for some spectacular aerial displays from the large Lapwing flocks on site.
Signs of the mild weather in the form of 2 Oystercatchers around the Mere today along with upto 80 Ruff. One of the Ravens put in an appearance again. The Woodcock has again been seen in recent days from Janet Kear hide, patience is required for this bird.
