Boom!!

A fantastic day on site despite near continuous rain, the star bird being a showy Bittern found mid to late morning and showed on and off through the day until late afternoon.

Other sightings included the Wood Sandpiper still present from UU Hide, also 2 Green Sandpiper from Ron Barker Hide and up to 3-4 Common Sandpiper on the reserve. Good numbers of Little Ringed Plover at the moment with 9 birds (2 adults & 7 juveniles) from Ron Barker this evening.

Also from Ron Barker hide this evening was a Hobby, a Barn Owl and the juvenile Cuckoo which was seen on and off through the day. Several Chiffchaff around the reserve at the moment and the odd Willow Warbler. The Kingfisher is occasionally being seen, also at least 1 Marsh Harrier, a few Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.
