Brambling and a thaw.

Four Brambling from the Janet Kear Hide today. A Stoat was seen near by.

As we approach spring, feeding opportunities for many birds becomes more difficult so the feeding station round the reserve become very important to the birds that have found them. The presence of mixed flocks also has the effect of drawing passing birds in as well as the local Sparrowhawks!

At least 5 Common Buzzard, 2 Barn Owl, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

Male and female Goldeneye on the Mere with 1000's of assorted waterfowl.

Over 20,000 Wood Pigeon flew over the reserve this morning.

As the thaw takes hold we should see an increase in Teal, Wigeon, Lapwing and other waders in the next week.
