Brass Monkey looking for lost property...

Looking out on the Mere today watching a thousand or so assorted waders and wildfowl going about their business, and marveling how seemingly unaffected most were by the bitter easterlies strafing the reserve.

Two Common Buzzard were coming in close by the United Utilites Hide on the Carum Field feeding on carrion. At least one Peregrine was keeping the waders warm by flushing them intermittently during the day.

Approximate counts included 70+ Avocet, 60+ Ruff (some developing breeding plumage), 10+ Black-tailed Godwit, 40+ Oystercatcher as well as numbers of Dunlin, Ringed Plover and Redshank.
