Building an Ark

Definitely the most rainfall I've ever seen here. Hopefully post a few shots tomorrow. The Boat House Sluice which runs through the reserve (between the United Utilities and Ron Barker Hides) has over flown and is flooding the reserve fields, ideal for feeding wildfowl though not working wardens checking the Longhorns.

Plenty of birds about but few reports. Two Common Sandpiper (Ad+juv) were new in, 60+ Common Snipe flying around when flushed by 2 Marsh Harrier. Highest count of the autumn of 52 Pintail. Also 375 Greylag and 2000+ Pink-footed Geese roosting.

A few Meadow Pipit and  alba Wagtails on the move in between the heavier rain.

Feeling sorry for the Swallows and House Martins feeding low over the reserve in these condition. As it happens tomorrows weather forecast looks much more sensible so things will be getting back to normal.
