Latest Sightings
There are lots of waders around at the moment, lapwings, dunlin, little ringed plover, ringer plover and a golden plover have all been seen from the Ron Barker hide. Looking out from United Utilities there has been a large number of snipe on woodend marsh

Juvenile marsh harriers have been spotted around the reserve and can be heard calling to their parents. A juvenile cuckoo was spotted by a warden out in Drypatch Field. Two snipe have been seen flying over the back fields. Green sandpipers have been seen

A female cuckoo in rufous plumage was spotted at the along the public footpath behind the canoe safari. Tern chicks are starting to fledge on the Mere. There are two marsh harriers performing food passes at Ron Barker which suggest that they're nesting

Latest Sightings
A nuthatch was spotted in the trees along the trail to Ron Barker. Common terns have been making use of the new rafts we put out for them on the Mere, with at least one chick having fledged this week.

Ruff have been seen in their late summer plumage feeding on Woodend Marsh over the last few days. Yesterday, a hobby was spotted flying over the reserve. A kingfisher has been feeding in the Boathouse Sluice in front of the Ron Barker Hide. A male cuckoo
