Cetti's Warbler

A fair amount of passage birds today even though the rain didn't happen. Bird of the day goes to Cetti's Warbler heard only along a reedy ditch opposite the Common Crane Pen inside the grounds. This would be the second ever record for the reserve following last years bird found on Pat's Reed Bed Walk.

Some waders did drop in with Greenshank, 8 Dunlin, 12 Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, Whimbrel joining 50+ Avocet, 150+ Lapwing, 20+ Redshank, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Ruff, 10+ Oystercatcher and Snipe.

Raptors included a female Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 4 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Also 2 Raven.

Yellow Wagtail and 2 Wheatear.

Some selective wildfowl counts produced 16 Gadwall, 18 Tufted Duck, 16 Teal, 7+ Shoveler, 14 Pink-footed Geese and 2 Wigeon.

Warblers singing along the Nature Trail and inside the grounds included 2 Garden Warbler, 7 Blackcap, 3 Whitethroat, 5 Sedge and 9 Reed Warbler.

If you missed today, I'll point you towards yesterday's report and say tomorrows looking good if the rain arrives...
