Cetti's Warbler

Some heavy rain in the morning but clearing to produce a reasonable day. A Cetti's Warbler was seen and heard from the Harrier Hide this afternoon. It is likely Cetti's have been present for a couple of years now in that area. Your best chance of hearing / seeing one is by walking along the Reed Bed Walk and spend some time by the viewing platforms.

Some small groups of Pink-footed Geese  are now coming in throughout the day. Birds are now heading back from Norfolk so any flock is worth a look for more unusual species.

Slightly fewer Whooper Swan on today as some were disturbed by a small helium balloon early on. Hopefully we should get a few more sightings of Bewick's Swan before the winter is out.

No shortage of Teal (2000+), Wigeon (1000+), Mallard (2000+), Shelduck (600+) Pintail (500+), as well as smaller numbers of Shoveler, Gadwall, Pochard, Tufted Duck and usually Goldeneye.

Another 6 species of raptor day with Merlin, Peregrine, 2+ Marsh Harrier, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk. Tawny Owl(s) in the usual spot. At least 3 Barn Owl with birds showing very well from the Ron Barker and UU Hides.

A few people looking for the Firecrest which is still very likely to be present. A couple of Goldcrest seen in that area and some good views of Redpoll there too.

Other reports included Raven and 2 Stonechat.

Remember if you do see anything of interest please report it initially to the in focus shop and we can relay the information around the reserve and finally on here. We can also give directions to the Tawny Owls etc.
