The first Chiffchaff returned today, singing in the Waterfowl Gardens, one day later than last year. This species is the first of the traditional spring migrants to arrive, although the murky, cool weather isn't feeling very spring like at the moment. Some assorted counts produced 88 Avocet, 6 Ringed Plover, 80+ Oystercatcher, 70+ Ruff, 30+ Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew and a few Dunlin.

Three Goldeneye still around, mostly on the Mere.

Raptors included 2+ Marsh Harrier, 3 Comon Buzzard and Sparrowhawk.

Goldcrest and Coal Tit along the Nature Trail and plenty of Tree Sparrow activity.
