Chiffchaffs singing!
Best day of the year weather wise, sunshine early on and light winds. Three Chiffchaff singing along the hedgerow opposite the sewage works from the Reedbed Walk this morning. These birds are most likely wintering birds all sparked up by the warmer conditions. We did have at least one Chiffchaff present in January.
New for the year a single Curlew calling over the Mere early morning. Two new Avocet in bringing the total up to 10, many more to come. At least 1500 Lapwing still.
Still 700+ Whooper Swan and 1000+ Pink-footed Geese roosting.
