Curlew Sandpipers

Another windy day making viewing more difficult but much warmer in the sun. Tomorrow looks excellent with the wind dropping back.

Two Curlew Sandpiper still present on Woodend Marsh from the United Utilities Hide. Also from there 4 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover, 2 Ruff and Little Egret.

At least 12 White Wagtail, 3 Yellow Wagtail and 5 Whimbrel on Sunley's Marsh viewable from the Ron Barker Hide. More Black-tailed Godwit flew in with 160 birds scattered around the reserve. Little Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper from the Harrier Hide this afternoon.

Raptors included Peregrine, 2+ Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Two Raven again.

Plenty of Swift feeding over the reserve and a concentration of birds including Swallows and House Martins feeding over the Sewage Works.

Orange-tip Butterfly on the wing today.
