Curlew Sandpipers

Two Curlew Sandpiper dropped in on the edge of the weather front this morning and were still present 16:30. An excellent run of late, these 'Curlew Sands' are the 24th species of wader recorded on site this year.

The birds joined a flock of 8 Dunlin and a Ringed Plover. At least 2 Little Ringed Plover and ~140 Black-tailed Godwit. The first Redshank chicks (3) on Woodend Marsh. Avocet, Oystercatcher and Lapwings all with chicks.

Marsh Harrier caused a commotion over the Mere this afternoon but didn't call in to grab a Black-headed Gull chick meal.

Med Gull still on the Mere. Little Gull on Woodend, also 2 Common Tern.
