Ah.. see, winter isn't over yet, with at least two adult European White-fronted Geese in a flock of ~ 1000 Pink-footed Geese on Plover Field this morning. A single Tundra Bean Goose was also seen in the past few days with Pink-feet on the reserve. Pink-feet tend to be present in much larger numbers than Whooper Swan as we go April, and it can be a good time to find rarer geese in the smaller flocks. The final birds can still be around in May.  The Whooper Swan numbers are continuing to decrease with an early morning maximum of 770 birds over the weekend, and generally less on the reserve during the day.

No specific count but 60+ Avocet, 40+ Black-tailed Godwit, 70+ Ruff, 4+ Ringed Plover, 60+ Oystercatcher, 10+ Redshank and 200+ Lapwing. Over 4000 Black-headed Gulls roosting on the reserve.

Raptors included 2+ Marsh Harrier, 6+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. Ring-tailed Hen Harrier on the Reed Bed Walk at 6pm.

Over the weekend the Cetti's Warbler was on the Reed Bed Walk, Wiilow Tit still from the Janet Kear Hide and Water Rail there.
