Garganey (about time..)

Garganey in eclipsed plumage showing well on the Mere 15:30 at least. It, or perhaps another, was seen earlier on from the Ron Barker Hide. The Teal numbers have risen considerably in the past week to over 1000 so this sighting was not unexpected. Twelve Wigeon this morning, new in.

Twelve Pink-footed Geese reported with Greylag this morning on Woodend Marsh.

The misty rain front that came through this morning dropped in 2 Greenshank on Vinson's Marsh. Again good Common Snipe numbers at 100+, 300+ Lapwing, 20+ Ruff and Green Sandpiper.

The 'usual' raptors with 2+ Marsh Harrier, 4+ Common Buzzard, Peregrine, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Hobby reported yesterday.

A regular flock of 60+ Goldfinch feeding out on the reserve fields.

Barn Owl from the Harrier Hide mid-afternoon.
