Easterlies and rain are always interesting from a birding point of view, and although it's now getting late for some migrants we are still on the look out for Red-necked Phalarope which will still be moving North.

As it happens the new bird for the year came in the form of a 'reeling' Grasshopper Warbler on Ashton's Marsh this morning. A Green Sandpiper flew, calling, over the in focus shop this morning.

The rain brought down feeding hirundines with Swallows, House and Sand Martin over the Mere.

Raptors included Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Twenty three species of moth in the trap this moring.
