Green-winged Teal again

Drake Green-winged Teal from the Ron Barker Hide today. It's been pretty hit and miss trying to catch up with this bird, however once on the reserve they tend to hang out through the winter.

Late on, 5.30pm, an adult European White-fronted Goose dropped in on the Mere with Pink-footed Geese.

Over 20,000 Pink-footed Geese roosting and 200+ Whooper Swan.

Another good raptor day with 4 Marsh Harrier, 2 Peregrine, 3+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Waders included 700+ Lapwing, 30+ Ruff, 2 Black-tailed Godwit and Common Snipes.

A probable Bullfinch (rare here) was heard calling on the Nature Trail. Other sightings included Goldcrest, 2 Grey Wagtail, 10+ Tree Sparrow, Brown Hare and Stoat.
