Hen Harrier
A male Hen Harrier was again reported from Ron Barker Hide along with a Merlin. Good numbers of waders at the moment included a count of 103 Ruff, 4 Black tailed Godwit, 35 Oystercatcher and 22 Avocet. There are also several Ringed Plover around the site at the moment but no sightings of the Woodcock today.
The spring build of Cormorants continues with at least 41 today around the Mere, our 2 resident Great black backed Gull are still marauding, taking whatever wildfowl is not wary! There are also 2 Lesser black backed Gull for comparison. Good numbers of Black headed Gull with upto 1000 and several Common Gull but no Med Gulls.
We still have well over 1000 Whooper Swans and many Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Pochard and Pintail.
