Unexpected birds always perk things up a bit and a male Common Redstart near the Janet Kear Hide certainly would have been great to see if it had hung around. It was new for the year and it is a less than annual species. On top of that the years second Spotted Flycatcher near the Raines Hide indicated something was going on migrant wise.

Green Sandpiper still, mostly from the Raines Hide. Plenty of breeding waders including Avocet, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, Redshank and Little Ringed Plover. Other waders included Dunlin and a few Black-tailed Godwit. Yesterday Common Sandpiper.

A Kingfisher has been showing occasionally from the Janet Kear Hide over the past few days.

Raptors have included 2 Marsh Harrier, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk.

Blackcaps continue to sing and a few are now fledging young.
