Latest Sighting

Plenty of action over the last few days. Lapwing numbers have increased to ~1200, 48 Oystercatcher, 73 Ruff and 20+ Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Common Snipe and a Woodcock flushed on the Reedbed Walk.

Also out on the Reedbed Walk, Cetti's Warbler occasionally calling, Chiffchaff by the sewage works and good numbers of Pied Wagtail there and occasional Grey Wagtail.

Adult moulting Mediterranean Gull on the Mere 3pm with Black-headed Gulls.

A count produced 1420 Whooper Swan and 4740 Pink-footed Geese roosting on the reserve. Still big numbers of Teal, Wigeon, Shelduck and Pintail.

Raptors included 2 Peregrine, 6+ Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk and Marsh Harrier, which was seen to catch a Wigeon.

Tawny Owl viewable most days tucked into Ivy before the Kingfisher Hide and Barn Owl late on most days.
