Latest Sightings
3 Kingfishers have made an appearance at Ron Barker hide over the weekend. 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Cattle Egret and 1 Great White Egret were spotted too. Numerous Marsh Harrier are witnessed flying over today and around 30 Canada Geese can be seen.
On Saturday, 49 Avocets were observed from Rees hide. They will soon be establishing their nesting sites for the breeding season. Also seen from Rees and Tomlinson hides were 70 Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover, 5 Shovelers, 1 Skylark and 1 Peregrine.
1 Great Crested Grebe was spotted from Harrier hide, along with 7 Tufted Ducks, 27 Gadwall and 1 Little Grebe.
On the Mere, 30+ Ruff, 50+ Black-Tailed Godwits, 39 Oystercatcher, 11 Snipe, 17 Cormorants and 2 Great Black-Backed Gulls were counted.
1 Mediterranean Gull has been spotted on the Mere today, and over 200 Pink-Footed Geese are sat on Ploverfield at the back of the Mere. The Whooper Swans are still present in the hundreds so come to our daily Wild Bird Feed, at 3pm in the Discovery hide, to see them up close and learn about their migration journey. You will also see Mute Swans, Mallards, Wigeon, Shelduck, Pintail, Coot, Moorhen, Greylag Geese and Pochard.
At Janet Kear hide, 6 Bullfinch have been observed today.
