Latest Sightings

A frosty calm and sunny start to the day before the chilled wind got up! Not a huge number of reports today, no new species for the year but tomorrows forecast looks interesting and may bring a few waders in so watch this space!

Cetti's Warbler showed well for 5 minutes is a sentence you won't see written very often but a bird hopped around near the path edge next to the viewing platform closest to the Sewage Works on the Reed Bed Walk. Second time its showed this week although again it barely uttered a sound.

Grasshopper Warbler again reeling beyond the Long Hedge past the Sewage Works. Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler singing around that area.

Waders included 3 Dunlin, Common Sandpiper, 4 Curlew, 50+ Avocet, 20+ Lapwing, 10 Oystercatcher, 20 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Redshank, a few Ruff and Common Snipe.

At least one pair of Med Gull present again in the usual spot.

Tree Sparrows active around the nest boxes.

Bullfinch calling near the start of the Reed Bed Walk opposite the former beaver area.

A good species count to be had in a days birding with easily over 60 species present.
