LRP and Wheatear

At last some genuine summer migrants! A cracking male Wheatear was out on fence post from the UU hide this morning and a Little Ringed Plover dropped in on the Mere around midday, only to be hassled by resident Ringed Plover.

A real cross over of species recorded with around 50 Whooper Swan still, tens of Teal and Wigeon. Shoveler numbers increased to ~30.

Waders also included 64 Avocet, 33 Black-tailed Godwit, 30 Ruff, 40+ Oystercatcher, 6 Ringed Plover, 6+ Redshank and 100+ Lapwing.

At least 6 Chiffchaff in song. Blackbird, Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush all in song and still few Redwing on the reserve.

A probable Sand Martin was seen distantly in the haze.
