Sub zero over night so a marvelously frosty winter spectacle this morning and the forecast looks good for the next 7 days.

The colder condition tend to bring a few more Whooper Swan onto the reserve with at least 1000 birds present thou no official counts.

Green-winged Teal again in Langley's Brook from the Ron Barker Hide.

A female Merlin showed well in the afternoon. Two Peregrine, 3 Common Buzzard and Kestrel. Barn Owl showing well again from the Ron Barker Hide.

Brambling from the Janet Kear Hide also plenty of Reed Bunting. A few Redwing feeding round mole hills in the overflow car park, also Song Thrush.
