Migrants

More action today with new birds arriving. It's easy to over look some of the passerines which are on the move during the autumn. Today new species in included male Stonechat on Owl Marsh, 3 Wheatear (2 Sunley's Marsh), 6 Yellow Wagtail and 21 Meadow Pipit over.

A Jay on the new Wild Walk is a good bird here for those keeping a WWT Martin Mere list. Also there in a mixed flock of tits a few Chiffchaff and Blackcaps.

Good wader action with Wood Sandpiper and Curlew Sandpiper new in on Woodend Marsh. Most other waders are viewing from the Ron Barker Hide with 62 Ruff (41 adult, 21 Juv), 60+ Common Snipe, 3 Ringed Plover, Golden Plover, Dunlin and 1200+ Lapwing.

Wildfowl counts included 680+ Teal, 24 Gadwall, 14 Pintail and 13 Wigeon.

Today's raptors; 8 Common Buzzard, 5 Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Marsh Harrier.

Other birds included 2 Swift and 2 Kingfisher.
