More geese this morning just off the reserve in a harvested carrot field between here and the LWT reserve at Mere Sands Wood. Seven Tundra Bean Geese and 5 European White-fronted Geese nearby at Windmill Farm. There are relatively small numbers (~ 3000) of Pink-footed Geese roaming the area and roosting on the reserve so any goose flocks are worth a look.

Two Peregrine were taking an exception to Common Buzzard this morning by dive bombing it into a nervous state. At least 2 Marsh Harrier again. The reed bed in front of the Harrier Hide seems to be the roosting spot for these birds.

Two Water Rail in the ditch between Hale and Kingfisher Hides.

Some recent additional counts included 920 Lapwing, 89 Ruff, 540 Wigeon, 770 Teal and 90 Pochard.

An exceptionally large flock of around 200 Herring Gull passed over the reserve mid afternoon, with some birds dropped in to bath in open water on the Mere.
