More Whooper Swans

At least 18 Whooper Swan were present today and large numbers of Pink-footed Geese c8000+ in and out of the reserve all day with 1000 around the Mere most of the day. The Little Stint is still present viewable from Ron Barker Hide, also Kingfisher continues to show well from here with patience.

With high pressure centred over the country and frost on the ground this morning, there was a noticeable overhead visible migration mainly involving Meadow Pipits and Skylarks with some Chaffinch and 1 Siskin as well as Grey Wagtail and small numbers of White/Pied Wagtail on the move. A Goldcrest was calling by the In Focus Shop and the resident Tawny Owl was showing near Ron Barker Hide.

At least 3 Marsh Harrier were again showing along with several Common Buzzard, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel
