Recent sightings

Lapwing numbers are starting to build up with up to 200 around the mere at the moment, other waders have included 3 male Ruff in breeding plumage along with Green and Common Sandpiper. A single Dunlin and 2 Little ringed Plover were seen yesterday and a flock of 25+ Black tailed Godwit has been present for a few days now.

A Barn Owl was seen hunting over the reserve yesterday from Ron Barker hide and Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and several Common Buzzard have been seen today and yesterday.

A good time of year for looking at Dragonflies, both Brown Hawker and Black tailed Skimmer have been seen around the Mere and Four spotted Chasers along the reed bed walk.
